hello all,we have an eko 60 that we are now installing with a 500 gallon storage tank. plan was to put them together in a 12x14room off the back of the garage. how much heat is this 500 gallons of water going to throw off in this room. now that we think about it if it is full of 180 degree water its going to be 180 degrees in there!! other thought was to put it in the cellar and use it as a giant radiator, but even that sounds like too much heat. i guess we could insulate it but what is standard practice to insulate a tank?? thanks in advance

Is the tank round or rectangular?

If rectangular, use polyisocyanurate foam board. It will take the heat (it's primarily used for under flat rubber roofing, so it has to take heat from that black rubber in full sun).

If round, you'll probably need to use fiberglass.
