Stove Surface HOT.

We have a Harmen Accentra, yesterday one of the fans started making a different sound, not exceptionally loud but louder than usual and we noticed the outside surface of the stove is hot, hotter than you can leave your hand without burning,
Stove seems to be burning OK and throwing decent heat but concerned with the higher than normal surface temp, any thoughts on what our problem might be?

I would run it in test mode to make sure the distribution (room air) fan is turning properly. If the room air fan is not turning the stove may overheat.

The room fan does seem to be running. Is there a way to determine if it is running as correctly?

At top speed the room air fan makes a lot of noise and there's a 7MPH breeze coming out of the front vent. The speed should vary with the setting of the temp and the H-L dials.

How old is the stove? Do you clean the convection fan at least yearly? More if you have pets? Blow out the motor windings as part of your cleaning as dust bunnies that take up residence there are motor killers? Depending on age, bearings could be going on fan...

The stove is probably 7 years old and the convection fan was just replaced and I had never cleaned it but was informed about the yearly cleaning by the gut doing the service so it will be done from now on.

Have you been able to identify which fan - combustion or convection? May want to explore that farther by removing back shield as sounds could echo/amplify within the cabinet. Make sure you unplug before working on the stove If convection, OEM replacement from a stove shop? There may be warranty on the fan...

Combustion blower windings need the same cleaning of the windings. Has that ever been pulled as part of the cleaning of the internal exhaust pathways? Fly ash collects in the chamber and on the exhaust blades... Need to get the gasket first.
