Is this stove top temp too high? 2 month old PI29 with 17ft insulated liner. This is with a full load of ash and the stove on high after around 30min-1hr.

I thought 900 seemed high but the manual recommends doing some hot burns. I couldn't imagine leaving it like that for an hour or two. That said the one temp gauge is right over the cat so maybe that's not the best place to take a reading?

You may have more draft than specified by BK, leading to higher temps.
It's good to do higher burns every now and then, but maybe those should be at 80% of wide open throttle for you.
