Hi all, I just purchased and installed a new Summers Heat (englander) pellet stove. I've been testing it out which has been great since it just started to get chilly here in North Western NJ at night. Definitely one of the best investments I've made.
My question has to do with burn rate. It's only mid September which puts the morning temps at around the upper 30 - lower 40 degree range in my part of NJ, still pretty early to be burning lots of pellets. It still gets somewhat warm outside in the middle of the day (60 - 70).
I've been reading that I should get anywhere from 16-24 hrs from a 40 lb bag of pellets. Right now it's running on 1 - 1 settings and I've heard about some people adjusting those bottom three buttons but I also read in the manual that this should never be done (well, we all know about that).
I really want the place warm, but feel that at the settings 1- 1 I should be getting much longer out of a bag of pellets. it seems I'm only getting the minimum of about 16 hrs. I understand there's many variables including what type of pellets I'm using, but at the lowest setting I'd think I should be getting much much longer out of a bag either way. Is there something that needs to be adjusted on those bottom three buttons?
Keep in mind it's a brand new stove factory settings and all that.
Any advice for a newbie ? Thanks
