I didn’t clean the ash from pellet stove after last season. Found what looks like surface rust on inside of stove. Does this look ok and anything I can/should do? 1A922C2A-657D-48A5-82A3-1E2141E8C4C3.jpeg1A922C2A-657D-48A5-82A3-1E2141E8C4C3.jpegA06C1CEB-39DE-4FA9-835D-84624B246CDB.jpeg477F5DCB-D399-4B84-AF3D-6E737B4D3494.jpeg

Wire brush it, Clean your stove, and stay warm. Does a hang nail require amputation? Nope. You are good.

WD-40 was originally invented to prevent rust. I conducted a little experiment: I sprayed a steel nail and one without and put them outside, the one without was rusted 12 hours, the one with WD-40 stayed 6 months without any rust. I think it should be OK to use at the end of the heating season. Wire brush it, than rub in some WD-40.

I’ve done that before too. Problem is I test fire every stove I clean so the wd burns off. I tell some of my customers with cast stoves to do that for the summer.
