Technical ? A419 Johnson Controls Temp Control

Hello everyone. Quick question to toss out to everyone. I've run into a situation where I'd like to install two 419 Johnson Controls but only have access to one well. Actually would like to install in a buffer tank. What are your thoughts on using one temp probe for both controls? Do you think this would work. I like these controls but I've never tried one probe connected to two controls. I could always do the trial and area routine but thought maybe someone already knew.

Do you have to use a well? I have a Johnson controlling my DHW - I just tied the probe to the pipe at the bottom of my tank & insulated it well. Works great.

I bought a Ranco 2 stage controller. One probe. The two stages are independent, and can overlap, be set in heating or cooling mode. Of course, it's not installed yet, lol.

Maybe, maybe not.

Just do like m1 says and use both sensors, placing the least time-critical sensor on the outside of the tank under the insulation.

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately the 2 stage Ranco would not be ideal for what I'm looking at. I'm pretty sure one probe will work fine for what I'm looking at. I've wired multiple probes together over the years to get an average temp on larger equipment. I'll just check it out later today. The well location would be the ideal situation as I'm trying to moniter temp inside a buffer tank. Mounting the probe on a pipe outside the tank would probably not be as
accurate for this application if the tank was to sit static for any length of time. If all else fails I would just drill thru the outer buffer tank cover, remove some foam and nest the probe against the tank. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hmmm. Is the temperature reading the same with both controllers connected as when just one controller is connected?

So did you just run a jumper between the two?

That's great. My heat pump's aquastat wanders a bit and I would love to replace it with a A419, especially since i have the probe already in the tank!
