Any quick ways to check one or any way to fix one? Temp gauge's shows it not letting any hot water past it.

Take it apart and find out! Let us know what you find. Talked to someone else today who had a Termovar that wasn't opening. Waiting to hear from that person too. This will be the 5th season on mine.

My Termovar seems weak and flows when it's too cold so I asked Tarm if they sold replacements, waiting for the reply.
If I replace it I am thinking of going to a 160 (or 161, what ever the next higher one is) any thoughts vs the 140 degree?

I am running a dhw loop only lines are rated I think 190 max I like to dump into the 2nd tank at 160. Never had water coming out to hot. I have another tempering valve for the electric hot water tank just dont think I need it. (I let the system drain over night) Will be back on it Thursday. Indian Summer here!
Oh I have about a 100 foot between the two tanks and lose about 6 degrees.
Ok after soaking in iron out and Pb blaster for the last 36 hours I re-installed. It is working as it should. Awesome that's 100.00 I don't have to spend.!

Iron out is what you use in water softener. I started with a bath of it. In a small pan I covered the mixing valve with water added a cup of iron out and soak for 24hrs. Then used a old zip lock bowl with lid and pb blaster and soak in it for another 24 hrs. Wiped it off and re-installed. All is working as it should. Fired a couple hrs ago and all seems normal again with 4 different temp gages saying its good to go!
The hotter you run them the more they tend to "lime" up. Install all three way mixers with isolation valve at all 3 ports for ease of service, at least on DHW or open systems.

My comment relates only to temper valves (Termovar - type) used for boiler return water protection or in the boiler/system, not DHW. It is important to know something about your fill water, pH, hardness, etc. My water is from a well that is about 3 grains of hardness, pH 7. I also added treatment to my boiler water. Now in the 5th season and the Termovar works as well today as on day 1, as best as I can tell.

Yea it was acting up last spring pretty bad. I figured I would pull it out and clean it good. Could be Iron or lime maybe both...
