Thinking of getting first pellet stove

Hi everyone my wife and I just bought a new house in Bedford NH and it currently has oil heat we are thinking about getting a Englander 25-PDVC the house is about 1400 sq feet and is a cape. Does anyone have any advice for me about this model stove? Will it run better on a specific brand of pellet? Besides Home Depot or Lowes does anyone recommend any places to buy pellets in the Bedford/Manchester NH area?

I love mine, they do require a bit of maintence about every 3-4 days. takes about 10 minutes tops.
I have that exact stove.

Can't recommend any other place to buy pellets....do you have a Tractor Supply nearby? Try calling stove shops, hardware stores, and landscape places.

Also, if you really are set on getting the 25 PDVC, here is an option to save some $$ (which can be used for pellets or exhaust pipe).....these stoves are factory refurbs that come direct from Englander. They have full factory warranty, and free shipping to nearest loading dock. Many forum members (including myself) have bought their stoves from Andy at AMFM....great guy to do business with:

Wish I had seen AMFM before I purchased my stove! I would have waited for the delivery to a local trucking company dock.

We love our two 25PVDC's. Most of all we love knowing that the fuel oil man isn't delivering here. Only thing I can recommend on pellets is to try 5 bags of a kind before you buy a ton or more. Our stoves run better( less ash , more heat) on higher quality pellets (translate: usually more expensive), you can check the reviews here to get a checklist of brands to try as well as those to steer clear of. Make sure your venting EVL when you install, is correct and that you read and follow your manuals directions. Lots of threads here on installing, operating, and trouble shooting that stove. No natural gas on your street? I enjoy the heat from my pellet stove, but would have converted to natural gas if I had the option before I bought the stove.

If your house is 1400 sq.feet, go with the bigger stove; 25-PDV.

I have no issues heating 1500sq ft with mine. I rarely have to go above 4-5 on heat.

AMFM is where I bought my Englander 10-CPM. It was a factory second.

It was Brand new, but had a small scuff on the front corner (about an inch long). They are almost $2,500 new and I got mine delivered to my door for $1,200. It was made 4-2-12 and I had it within 2 weeks of being made.

If its in your budget, try and buy a PAH, EP, or CPM. They not only do Hig/Low like the PDVC and PDV, but also do On/Off.

If doing pellet only, then the EP has a Nice Bay window and a Tube type heat exchange system. The PAH has a HUGE hopper and the CPM is a multi fuel model that can and will burn ANYTHING!

Nope..BTU output won't match BTU input. I tried to answer your question with what data I could find. Englander lists only square footage in it's specifications.
And, I don't know if the data at that aforementioned site is correct either.

I'd love to know lbs/hr consumption, without me having to calculate it.

Hmmm..I'm gonna be home for a spell this winter recovering from cardiac surgery...sounds like a good project for me to do, as if I need an excuse to play with the stove! Will post what I find out..

. . . and how well its insulated. When i moved to the Northeast, I couldn't believe how many homes up here have little or no insulation.
