bob i put in a new snapdisc it comes on at the right temp but it stays on way too long.says 115d to come on but it runs and runs and runs after a bit it is just blowing cold air. it will shut the fan off but it takes a long time! I would like the stove to operate more like a furnace.

i saw a 90d snapdisc on Amazon but i dont know if that will be any different?

Do you have any suggestions?

All I can say is to try a different thermodisk.
It should open the circuit BEFORE the blower
moves cold air.

Soooooo Mr. Bob DAKSY I think I have my problem figured out this stove sucks air from the back via 2 fans with one motor, looking at the system it is drawing cold air off our tile floor up through the back up to the top, this is fine as long as the stove is on and the cast iron is hot. When the stove shuts off the cast iron cools down then the fan is still on drawing cold air off the cold tile floor out the front top, not a good system to me! After a long while the fan will shut off apparently the snapdisc is of the wrong temp!

I am going to look for a snapdisc that comes on at 90d and shuts off at 50d does this seem feasible to you? have you ever seen or heard of a snap disc that can do that? Have you ever encountered this problem? If you have what was your solution?

Generally the snap disk should be replaced with one that is tested with the appliance,
but there is no way to know if this has already been replaced with a different one.
All I can tell you is to try whatever fits in the bracket.

bob havent been back for a bit. the problem is i need a more responsive snapdisc i think if there is such an animal. the stove will shut off but the blower keeps going for a long time blowing cold air! I hope i am getting my point across as to what is happening. I think i have the lowest one in there now i can find! It comes on fine but after the heat shuts off the fan keeps running way too long! oh well!

Not for nuthin' but the forum is meant to be a resource so others with a similar problem and maybe those with the solution can benefit. Thread titles that don't specify a problem or at least a unit are not much help to anyone else as are those directed at specific individuals.

Snapdiscs are designed to turn on at the temperature specified, and typically open at a temperature about 30 degrees lower.

Choose a temperature that's too low, and it wont shut off.

Personally, I'd choose a temperature that is higher than what you have, perhaps 140 degrees.

The fan would then turn on when it heats up to 140 degrees, and shut off when it cools off to 110 degrees or so.

Or you can look for the parts list from the manufacturer and either see what they specify or order the part designed for your stove and use that.

The usual design consideration for fan switches is that you don't want them to turn on until the appliance is fairly hot to avoid circulating cooler air, and you want the fan to run until much of the heat has been removed from the appliance, but again you don't want to circulate cool air which is perceived as being drafty.

so you are saying 140 and 140? makes sense guess i have my idea wrong? pretty much the usual for me!!
