Too close to a combustible ?

I’m hoping a solution can be found for my installation of my chimney pipe. I’ve somehow miscalculated and got my DuraPlus triple wall chimney pipe within 2” of a roof rafter. It’s at 1 1/2” as seen in the attached picture. Can I place a piece of sheet metal between the wood and the pipe ? Do I need an offset from the wood (air space)?

You have a wall band right above the box that isn’t necessary, it should hold it at 2, but doesn’t seem to be. I’m guessing it’s pulling the pipe over? Sometimes the truss isn’t plum, causing a clearance issue at the top.

Yeah, I actually made the band to help offset it exactly 2”, but ended up having to bend it to allow the pipe closer to the truss to keep the pipe plumb. At this point the wall band is actually maintaining it at 1 1/2” and plumb. I’d rather not spend the $229 for offset pipe if I don’t have to. I’m thinking 24 gauge steel plate with a slight airspace?

Also if I did get my 2” space by nudging the truss away at its bottom section, it would still be 1 1/2” near the exit point f the chimney at the roof line.

Sheet metal will not reduce the clearance requirements. In fact, once installed it will only verify that you were aware of clearance infringement. Moving your ceiling box out is the answer to your problems. The trim Will usually still cover.

Just move it over some, you haven't gone out through the roof yet, so you won't really have any issues. The ceiling issue can be patched easily if needed at all.

You'll sleep better at night knowing it is right.

It might be the camera angle, but is the bottom edge of the flashing on top of or underneath the shingles? The angle of the shot makes it hard to see. It should be on top.

It’s on top. Just too far away to see. About 2/3 overlap of shingles over flashing and bottom 1/3 flashing over bottom shingles.

My home depot and lowes carry them but a few people have said to stay away from the kind you get a big box stores. They are Soooo much cheaper that I worry about the adage you get what you pay for.

So far I’m very satisfied with the Escape. I have not had to run the furnace since Monday. Temps have been pretty mild here in Arkansas the last few days though. I known this sounds strange, but I’m hoping for colder weather yet this winter to really test to stove.

I’m one of the few living here and wishing for snow each winter. Of course I grew up in eastern PA where skating and sledding were the norm for winters.
