Just reading the news and found this article about Hawk, a trauma dog with the Calgary Police. I understand that these dogs have already been used in US courts. What a wonderful idea!

I know our dogs have provided extra comfort to my kids when they have encountered tough situations. The lab and newfie X we had were very social dogs who trailed their kids everywhere. I know labs are routinely used as service dogs because they are very tuned in to their owners ... have read about instances where they were able to warn people with epilepsy that they were going to have a seizure. For traumatized kids, this seems to be a wonderful, non-threatening way of providing that unconditional support they need to testify...
