I'm looking for input from anyone familiar with the wiring on the Fireplace Xtrordinair ProBuilder 36 CleanFace GSB2/MV gas fireplace.

What I have:
  • Fireplace: ProBuilder 36 CleanFace GSB2/MV
  • OEM blower kit: 99000199
  • OEM Ember-Glo light kit: 94400897
What I've installed:
  • The OEM blower kit, including its snap-disc temperature switch and separate fan rheostat.
  • The OEM Ember-Glo kit, including its own light rheostat.
  • Both accessories are installed and working properly.
When I ordered and installed the Ember-Glo kit, I wasn't aware that the lights on the GSB2 would operate manually rather than turn on and off automatically with the burner. When we want the lights on, we need to manually turn them on /off every time with the rheostat. The lights look fantastic, but having to operate a separate rheostat every time is inconvenient.

What I'd like to accomplish:
  • Have the Ember-Glo lights turn on and off automatically with the burner, ideally when the burner ignites and shuts off.
  • Alternatively, have the lights follow the blower's snap-disc cycle, if that is a simpler or more practical solution.
  • Keep the Ember-Glo rheostat set to our preferred brightness, with the fan-speed rheostat remaining independent.
  • I'm open to another wiring approach if there's a better way to accomplish this safely.
I contacted Travis Industries directly, and their technician support advised that automatic activation of the Ember-Glo lights isn't available on the GSB2; that functionality would require the GSR2 Deluxe model. Not much help other than I should have originally bought the Deluxe model.

Ideas I'm considering:
  • Using the existing snap-disc circuit to switch the light circuit as well.
  • Determining whether the harness connector labeled “Fan” provides power before or after the snap disc, and whether it could be used for this purpose.
  • Using a properly rated relay if that is the better way to switch the lights while retaining the separate light rheostat.
Questions for those familiar with this model:
  1. Does anyone know the manufacturer, part number, or electrical rating of the snap disc supplied with blower kit 99000199
  2. Has anyone modified a GSB2 to make the Ember-Glo lights switch automatically with the burner or blower, or found a manufacturer-approved way to do this?
  3. Is there another approach I should consider?
I've reviewed the OEM installation and wiring diagrams, but they don't appear to document this modification. I'm hoping someone with hands-on experience with this particular model can help identify the circuit arrangement and the best way to approach it
Thanks in advance for any advice or experience!
