How are the Turman's pellets burning this year. They were decent 2-3 years ago, how are they this year as far as heat & ash wise.
Awf pine was the worst pellet Ive ever used. Ridiculous amount of fines. And black soot everywhere a 1/4in coating on everythingI'm almost through a ton--the Turman's have been great; minimal ash, great heat despite very cold temps around here lately. I started with three tons of Energex (one more ton of Energex left) and about 8 bags of AWF Ultra Premiums White Pines. The Energex aren't quite where the Turman's are (more ash, slightly less heat) and the AWF's are questionable--lots of sawdust and small fines in two bags so far. I miss the HEAT of my Harman TL300, but appreciate the ease of doing the weekly stocking/about 15 minutes versus about an 1.5 hours of moving firewood for the week. I think I'll go with all Turman next season...
Agreed, many hate the AWF but I would bet they are not burning the Ultra White Pine in the black and white bag. They are my goto on these cold days. We're talking Ultras, right? I ask because it is weird that some users love them and others can't stand them. There are two AWF pellet types out there, one being Ultras. In my case, the Ultras provided great hear with little ash.
Well let me educate you lol. AWF does make 2 different pellets. The Ultras are a pure softwood and the regular premium are a hardwood softwood blend. If the bag does not say "ultra softwood white pine" then they are the less inferior pellets. If you do have these then some stove must just like them and other don't.I must be an idiot lol. The white pines in the pink and green bag. Of course its the black and white bag. Ive never seen any other white pine pellets by awf anyway. But bad. Wet black soot I stopped using them immediately in fear of starting a fire in the chimney. I traded them to some one who liked them.
this^^^^Highest btu and lowest ash of any brand I have used this year.
These are the good ones....The other AWF's are comparable to Ole Roy's kibble.
