NORTHERN NY, Almost Canada.
Been a while since I posted ,still running my old Lopi AGP, It's been a workhorse all these years ,Up North here in NY , Northern St Lawrence /Franklin cty area , Have been burning Curran Hdwood pellets , so far this year , and haven't been getting the heat from them that I think I should ,along with them burning pretty fast, and hhaveing to clean the stove more often , Has any one else been haveing problems with them ? Don't have a moisture meter ,but a lot of the bags fon't seem to be sealed as well as their softwood blend has been in the past which is what I usually burn , It's about all I can find up here at a reasonable price 253 tax included ,a ton , Bought 1 ton to see me through until I can find another brand , Plus I had to pick it up ,took 2 trips in the old S10 from the local hardware store , Looking for a better pellet before too much longer as winters about set in , any ideas on anything better ? If I can find the soft wood blend I'll probably g back to that for the price , But wasn't really pleased with them last year

What about Green Supreme? Home Depot? I burn something called Eastern Embers 100% premium softwood but I don't think you have them down there. They are made in Nova Scotia

Here in Western Mass. mediocre pellets go for around $350 per ton. Decent ones are close to $400. It's been around five years since pellets were anywhere near $253. in my area. Wood and Sons are $395. Okanogan are too. It may not be worth the savings to by pellets that have lots of fines, or low heat, or too much ash, but these prices are ridiculous.

I’m late to the party, but I’m also in NNY/St Lawrence County.

I’ve got a Harman P68 and an Englander CB120. The Harman will burn anything I throw at it, but the Currans definitely produce more ash—and seemingly blacker ash, not the nice light fluffy stuff I expect.

The Englander hates Curran pellets. I pretty much exclusively burn Ambiance from Agway in it. It’s a bummer because Currans are $290/ton whereas Ambiance are like $365/T. Right now I have a ton of each.

Which Agway , we have one in the town near me, Potsdam , and rght now all I have is the Currans , blend and a few bags of their Hd wds , I
I've bought cyrrans the past few years , The price was good ,but this year is the worst , total black ash and have to scrape the burn pot every 12/15 hrs of burn and empty the ash bucket , ,otherwise the ash lays heavy and shuts it down , Been Burning My Lopi AGP for about 15 yrs and always kept it clean , So want to try some other brand ,if for nothing else than to get me through this next cold snap this weekend .

Potsdam Agway has Ambiance and Energex. I wasn’t a huge fan of Energex but they seem to have good reviews.

I’ve bought Curran from Triple A and Bicknell Building Supply in Potsdam, both hardwood and softwood blend. I agree 100% about tons of black ash. In my Harman, it’s annoying but not a dealbreaker. In my Englander, they just jam constantly.

I’ve also bought Dry Creek from Kinney Drugs in Potsdam…but they don’t have a forklift so if you buy a ton, you have to manually move 50 bags onto your trailer, which is inconvenient at best.
