I’m not surprised. Look we are entering a new less intense Cold War with China. Assume everything that could be used for leverage is until proven otherwise. Accept the risk. Mitigate it. Do better next time.
 
I just finished reading the original Reuter's report on these concerns.

A grid relying primarily on renewables has some greater issues and costs to keep it stable. It's not a trivial problem, as noted by the recent failure in Spain.
 
This could be greater than what happened on the Iberian peninsula.

China decides to invade Taiwan or more probable in my opinion, Russia. They need to distract the USA. Let’s upload some new firmware that will cause the inverters to catch fire. Oh look, now nobody is paying attention to what’s happening in Asia.

Japan tried to start forest fires here too. It’s not a new idea. The only thing new is we made it real easy for them to do it. We even strapped them to the side of our house. Japan had to resort to sending balloons over.
