Used Quadrafire CB1200i Not working with thermostat

i just recently bought a used Quadrafire CB1200i..I’ve installed it and the last owner gave me the manual QF thermostat.. we installed the thermostat and it worked all day but wouldn’t turn on at night. I changed thermostats thinking it was bad and used a basic digital.. the stove worked on and off all day but again wouldnt turn on at night. Bought another one, Lux basic non programmable and cleaned the entire stove and found a lose wire on the left side by the motor..(blue wires) wasn’t sure it was originally used so I left it.. turned the stove on and the blower never turned on and the auger didn’t drop pellets.. plugged it back in and checked all the wires and fuse but it looks good.. when I unplug and plug it in, it works as it should..the Red Call light is out and doesn’t come on when it asked for heat..tech from store says it could be out..the wire is a basic 2 wire and about 15 ft long so I can position the thermostat across the room.. I’m stumped about why now it doesn’t turn on and sometimes it does? The temp is set for 70 and during the night says 66 but stove doesn’t turn on..There is also a snap disk on the left side that doesn’t have any wires to it..help before I have to call a dealer to have them service it..

Make a jumper wire and put it across the terminals for the thermostat and see if the stove runs properly.

Ok not good with wires so how do I do that?

Unplug stove. Where the thermostat hooks to stove(two screws). Unhook tstat wires, then jump the two screws with a wire. Wire like is in the stove, has plastic coating on it. Then plug stove back in. See if stove runs normally. If it does, you had either a bad tstat or bad tstat wires. kap

Looks like someone bypassed Snap disc #2, which is a safety feature for overheat in first pic. Second pic looks like the terminal block. Is that the tstat wire coming off of it? Hard to see. And I didn't under stand what you were trying to say in last

So the yellow wires attached to the two screws in the terminal block on the stove is the same two wires to that snap disk 2..could the snap disk be bad? And how do I connect snap disk #1 back in for the overheating?? Shouldn’t that be connect for safety?

When you check the stove in the morning, is the red call light on? How often do you clean out the firepot? Is it getting too full by nite time that it has a misfire? kap

So the same yellow wires on the terminal block for the tstat is the same as snap disk #1...could it be the snap disk? And how do I connect snap disk #2 for the safety feature??

From what little I can see, and what you are saying, someone butchered the wiring on this stove. I would suggest you talk to the guy that sold it to you, or you will be hiring a service tech to straighten this mess out. Not something that can be done over the internet. kap

No the Red Call light doesn’t come on anymore.. it did when we first installed it but it hasn’t worked since.. the blue lights work and the green and red when it hit temp.. the fire pot and entire stove was cleaned by the guy who owned it and again by me.. pulled the back plates out as well and cleaned that.. thermocouple is good and igniter works. I’m stumped at this point.

Just spoke with the guy i bought it from, he didn’t touch the wires, he actually bought it off someone else so I’m at a loss here and will have to hire someone unfortunately. But I hooked up the tstat again and it’s been coming on and off so I have no idea why it stops sometimes. Thanks Kap! Appreciate your help!

Welcome Joanna here is a copy of your owners manual. There is a wire diagram in it. you or someone you know that can follow the colors and follow the diagram can put the wires where they go.

That top snap disk is the overtemp and the bottom is the blower switch but they put a blower switch on the housing for the fan and it looks like the blue wires are an extension to reach it. Quad was recommending moving the blower switch to the combustion housing for a while so that should be fine as long as the blue wires are plugged into that switch and the purple wires.

Turn the stove up to 90 and run it for an hour or two and see if it shuts off. If it does your probably overtemping, in which case that top switch with the yellow wires might be the culprit. That switch is in line with the call light so if it’s barely closed then that might make your call light not work.
