There is a growing body of videos and blogs on repurposing electric car batteries for RV or home use. It's a cool concept if you know what you are doing. I've been intrigued by this ever since we bought our Prius in 2006. Now with more wrecked electric cars showing up, the opportunity to get a battery pack from them is becoming more a real option.

I like this fellow's detailed explanations as he employs A 24v Tesla battery module to power their RV. He's done a nice job of documenting the process.

There is also this fellow that converted a used Volt battery pack into his own home powerwall. He has a boatload of informative videos.

Has anyone here tried this or are you considering trying this?

The tricky part, I'd imagine, would be to get the correct charging profile to match the batteries. Can this be met with solar only or does it need grid/genset to float them on a regular basis?
