Question:

We very interested in purchasing a pelletstove. We have an existing chimney which we can use with a hearth or we can vent directly outdoors. It's much less expensive to vent directly, but didn't know if it made a difference in the burning of the pellets. So much information out there, it's overwhelming to decide what one to purchase. Help!!!



Answer:

Venting straight outdoors will probably be best...no reason to use the chimney if it is more expensive. Most pellet stoves are designed and tested to vent straight out, so this should work just fine. You can locate it on the same hearth or anywhere else that an outside wall is available.
