What considerations are there for venting up and out vs out and up? I have seen lots of mention of up and out, but not so much for out and up.
Power has gone out twice since we moved to the area. We have a generator but this stove will be burning 24/7 and if there is an outage at night I imagine our living room will fill with smoke that will cause mild damage. So I’m not too sure if I want to do straight out, even though it seems cheapest and easiest.
Thoughts?
- I would think it is just athletics: do you want the stove pipe visible on the inside of the house or the outside?
- There was some talk of heat recovery for up and out, but I’m skeptical.
- I also saw talk of it being easier to replace a stove that is vented up and out because you can buy an elbow joint to line up the vent to the stove.
