Hello, I have a new Vermont Castings Radiance gas stove (converted to propane) that I installed before this winter. I like the stove and so far things are working well, but I have one question or issue with the stove. When I have it in thermostat mode and I have the temperature set via the remote the stove will turn on, but the flame starts off high and always goes low after a few seconds. Even if I go into the flame height option in the remote and turn it all the way up it will beep and accept the setting, the flame will go high, and then a few seconds later it will go to low again.

Is this what it is supposed to do, or is there an issue with the stove? It does seem to keep the temperature at the level I set it to, even though it is running a lot right now with the single digit temps. Just looking to know if this is expected behavior or not. Thanks
Kris

The remote is probably accurately throttling back the flame because you have it in thermostat mode, especially if the room is being kept within temperature spec’s.
Assuming your stat is integral with the remote, will this operating change if you take the remote outdoors in to the cold?

Can you post a picture of your remote? You are probably in "smart" thermostat mode if it's a SIT controller

Yes, could be in smart tstat mode. In regular tstat mode, unit should come on when tstat calls for heat, and will run at last setting of the remote.
