Vigilant Stove Coal Insert Removal

One of my vigilants is a Coal/Wood model. Not the one that has the ash tray under the unit but the one that has the ash tray inside behind the doors. I will never burn coal in this stove. It looks like I should be able to breakdown all the coal parts and remove them. I can't see a reason it wouldn't work to remove all the coal stuff/shaker bottom grate and such. Do I need to cut the sides or should I keep looking for a way to disassemble without cutting?

We recently moved into a house with a Vigilant stove. It was set up for coal burning, but we have the instruction manual for coal-to-wood conversion. The coal shaker assembly can come out of there, though you may have to knock loose some fireplace cement holding the parts in place. The basic instructions were to remove the front grate, then the right and left side grate pieces. After that, the three shaker tray pieces should slide out with some finesse. Next is right side ventilation piece (this is big), followed by the back piece of the coal grate. Next, the shaker rod can be removed and you should find a cover on the secondary air vent on the bottom right that has a screw keeping it in place, remove that. Lastly, the coal magazine should come out as well, I had to lower it into the stove and out the front doors.

There are two pieces indicated for finishing the conversion to wood: the primary air tube and the ask fettle. You may need to find those on a parts store or something if you don't have them. Good luck! I'll see if I can upload scans of the conversion manual as a follow up.

I have a vc vigilant1/1a with coal conversion kit installed. Theres no coal mag just the rotating shaker rack and ash tray. Previous owner was burning wood in it . can i continue to safely use it this way or do i need to remove it and install a primary air tube? Ty in advance
