Fellow member Caribfan posted in the pellet price section that Walmart in North Windham, Maine had MWP for $3.84 bag and $192/ton. Stopped in today to grab a ton. Walmart WILL NOT load a full ton on your vehicle. You have to unwrap the pallet and load by hand. They told me company policy would not allow it. I asked for a supervisor and got the same answer.
At Caribfan's suggestion, I went a few miles down the street to TSC and asked them to price match. Without so much as a minor glitch, they said yes. Their posted price is $4.89 bag, $239.50/ton. A $47.50 savings without batting an eyelash. Kudos to TSC!!! I was loaded and gone in ten minutes. Don't wait long boys, I don't expect this to last any longer than Walmarts stock.....
Thanks, Caribfan!!

Glad it worked out. I asked about the price match this morning at TSC - I'm not a walmart fan and TSC is closer to my house - and they said "probably" but the manager had to check Walmart to verify the price. I will be grabbing a ton tomorrow. have to wait until my son is out of soccer practice as I can only grab 1/2 ton at a time so its a little more labor intensive. I may grab a ton of Fireside Ultras at home depot for $219 also. I liked them better than MWP last year. Although now it is posted here I imagine the FSU won't last long.

I have been in the habit of using a camera- phone to get price matches as you get a time stamp as well.

I have some FSU in stock but the $27 a ton difference will have me sticking with the MWP since I drive right by TSC Windham twice a week.

I picked up a ton this morning at TSC after soccer practice - $192 no questions asked. I have a bad feeling that will be a tough price to beat this year. I was able to get as low as $173/ton last year with a 10% off coupon - I think those opportunites will be a little more scarce this year.

Caribfan or Harmon Lover,

Do you know if the price is still sub $200? I was finally able to get my father-in-law's trailer and was going to hit the TSC here in Scarborough to start stocking up. I stopped by the Biddeford Wal-mart hoping to at least be able to get a price match picture but they were $5 a bag ($250 / ton).

Thanks,

Eric

I'm up here but I have no idea if the price changed....call the store and find out....and let me know because I was gonna get another ton on my way home Monday.

Edit: I had a friend tell me today that Walmart in Plaistow NH was 5 bucks a bag too.....crap.....

Turns out that TSC in Scarborough wouldn't price match the North Windham store regardless and the Walmart store in Scarborough was out. I did get them to price match HD at $219 a ton, which was still better than their advertised $235.

Did a repeat trip today...still upwards of 20 tons at Walmart Windham. Went to TSC and bought one ton and put another on lay away all at the Walmart price of $192 ton. Don't have to pick up for 60 days....my pig status is now confirmed for another season.
