Here is what's available and pricing in the area. Price listed is picked up at store.

Greenway's @ Lowes @ $4.98 /bag, no per ton price break but 10% military discount = $224.10 a ton.

Somerset's @ Tractor Supply, no military discount.......................................................= $199.50 a ton.

Ozark Hardwoods @ Tractor Supply, no military discount ..............................................= $175.00 a ton.

Heat Resourse's @ Orscheln's , 5% military discount reg $190/ton ................................= $171.00 a ton

I have only been using Somerset's for the last few years and really like them. How do the Greenways and others on the list compare to the Somersets?

Thanks in advance for any replies / suggestions.

Don't see those kinds of pellets up here so I'm no help. Not seeing those kind of prices this year either. Safe to say, I'm a little envious.

Somersets.. I am biased. But if they can be had for under $200 a ton. Grab them. Grab them all.

Burned Greenways a couple yrs ago. They were not bad. But not as good as Somersets. Never burned the other 2, so I can't comment.

Buy a couple bags and burn them (a little warm) if the prices don't rise and you can wait to try them? Then do so. But Somersets are a known pellet with a good history.

Same as Dex. I have both in my shed right now. I'll start with the Greenways in the fall, and put the Somersets in when it gets cold. Given the Somersets are cheaper too...easy choice.

Not familiar with the last two brands.

Don't know anything about the last 2, but if you can get the Somersets at that price, LOAD UP! If the last 2 are decent, maybe get those for your shoulder season stash.

Somersets get my vote! Greenways are pretty good too. OHP were ashy when I tried them.

No comment on Heat Resource but I would try them.

Anywere in Ct or Ma do they sell somerset's?, you midwest boy's and your cheap prices are killing me!!!

Get all those Somersets.....ALL OF THEM!

Pellet-King, check out Long Pond Stove Shop in Wauregan, CT. (broken link removed)

Called the local Home Depot this morning. The call was transferred to a lady in the Home and Garden dept. I asked the price per ton and manufacturer of their pellets. She said " Oh yeah, Iv'e seen 'em and I know what your talking about. They are itty bitty and I think they are made out of oak. I won't know the price until they get here in October."........Wow, really knew her stuff.

I did find another local supplier today.

Ember Hearth premium pellets at Nixa Hardware for $204 a ton picked up at the store.

How do these compare with the Somersets?

Hey abouts where in SW MO you from? I've tried the nixa hardware pellets and they are awesome. I've only used their Ozark Oaks. I've tried all the ones you mentioned above execpt the somersets. All were just average execpt Greenways. I've been really happy with them. But if your close to Nixa i would be buying my pellets from them. All their pellets are stored inside and there is no fuel tax either.

I'm in the country about 20 miles w of Springfield. I bought my stove from Nixa hardware. They are about a half hour away. They are selling Ozark Oaks for $173.50 a ton picked up at the store.

I've had great luck with Somersets from the local Lowes. Trouble is they quit selling that brand. Think I'll order a couple tons from Tractor Supply for my main stash but will get a few bags of all the others just to try them out.
