I have found that if you vacuum your glass and then use Windex to clean the rest, the Windex forms some sort of a shield for future cleaning. After doing this once or twice, cleaning the glass in the future is much easier than when using other methods.

....I tried these and they work great too.... cc

I have always vacuumed the doors and then performed a spit shine. It never occured to me to use a cleaner. A little spit on a paper towel gets it perfectly clean...albeit a little gross I suppose.

Been using windex for 10+ yrs, Rutland stove glass cleaner with silicone works better and stays cleaner.

do not use windex on your glass.

use a damp paper towel once the window is cool

Velvet is correct, do not use ammonia based cleaners as it can pit the glass (which is actually ceramic).

I second the Rutland Stove glass cleaner. Once you get the glass "conditioned" clean up is simple.

I tinted my glass so I don't have to worry about such nonsense.

Sorry guys unless someone can prove to me (link) that the ammonia in Windex is corrosive enough to harm the glass I not buying it, because if that was the case we should stop burning wood pellets because fly ash is corrosive. (broken link removed to http://www.weyerhaeuser.com/pdfs/msds/443.pdf)

As far as I know most wood stove manuals recommend against cleaning the ceramic with Windex or other ammonia based cleaners.

My stove manual says the following "Use of a glass cleaner ONLY permitted when the stove is cold." Also, I can use Windex because my stove is a magical stove and yours is not

I use this stuff from Sam's Club. $7 something for a 4 pack.

Oooooooh.....I hear rumors of such a thing...... :)

They say not to use windex because if it drips onto your door gaskets it can damage them. Windex will not hurt ceramic glass i know because we make it here for missle domes, tanks, planes etc...

Nothing wrong with using windex on my stove glass. Spray
a little on a paper towel and voila. A bit of common sense goes
a long way.

I switch up between rutland stove glass cleaner, magic eraser, and windex.
They all work.

I used the ceramic glass and stove top cleaner the first few weeks. Where I clean the stove weekly, all I seem to need now is a wet paper towel followed by a couple of dry ones. This is while I still burn off Michigan pellets. Stuff wipes right off every Saturday/Sunday on a cool stove.

Still amazes me that people just hafta spend money on stuff 'cause it MUST be better. I'll stick with ashes, been burnin' Maine pellets, so I got plenty.

Totally Agree, I used rutland once and now cleaning the glass is as easy as a damp paper towel.

Yeah, I bought my stove from the Keebler Elves....they use to bake their cookies on top of it.

well i have only burnt like 3 times in my stove and the outside of the glass has got some kind of film on it even windex wont take off, elbow grease wont even get this crap off of it, sorta upset about it
