+1 for tulip-poplar/ yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera)
yellow/ green/ purple heartwood (it looks like color of a bruise)
 
The bark doesn't look like poplar, but the green in the middle does look like poplar.
 
late to game but yes 1000% tulip poplar. i love it in my BK. dries quick. its ashy though.
