Hoping to get some helpful advice on this idea. I have these 2 woodburning inserts, and after running them for a while our preference would be to swap them. We much prefer the Clydesdale, and spend more time in that room. Both are installed in former woodburning masonry fireplaces with flexible 6” liners.
1. VC Montpelier II, installed 2020
2. Hearthstone Clydesdale, installed 2017, non catalytic model.

From looking at the manuals both have a similar dimensions and exhaust connections. Could it be as simple as disconnecting the liner from the collar and moving them?

It might work, they are close in dimensions. The Clydesdale is a few inches wider in the rear. The only way to know is to have the actual measurements of each fireplace. Or at least, remove the surrounds on each and see how much wiggle room there is behind and alongside each insert.
