i was looking into installing a pellet stove but upon reading that outside air intake is recommended and i can't put holes in the wall (rental), i've decided to look at wood stoves. i pretty much have an endless supply of wood so it makes sense as far as fuel costs. and in the event that we get another freak October snowstorm in CT, i won't be blowing frost inside my house for 8 days! i'm pretty sure wood stoves don't need the outside air and rely on draft. and from what i'm seeing, an existing fireplace will work as a home for a wood stove. i have a chimney guy coming to inspect and assuming all is good, is there anything else besides the stove that i'll need? thanks for the help!

Hi toonces,
If you have an existing fireplace you could go with an insert type wood stove instead of an actual wood stove, just something to consider. Depending on your current chimney and the unit you choose, you may need a liner for the chimney though. You are correct, wood stoves generally don’t require a direct outside air hook up. I’m not familiar with pellet stoves.
