I saw an ad on craigslist close to me, and thought I would ask the experts before I pulled the trigger on it. Thanks in advance.....

The orange-red rounds on the lower-right look like Mulberry....good stuff. I don't know about the other, but it looks like it might be kinda lightweight. Might be good starter or short-fire stuff.

I'm two year in to this scrounging wood thing. I have found their is more free wood available than I have space to store, or time to deal with. That small pile is a start on a cord. It's fire wood, stack it!

The wood to the left looks like ailanthus, probably not worth your time.

Looks like boxelder. I've seen a bunch of those bigger rounds turn that dark orange after a couple weeks of being cut.

In no wood expert, but that looks a lot like some chit I took from a friend for the campfires. Don't know much about burning it, but I'd guess it is shoulder wood.

Yes the bottom right is Mulberry; the other stuff looks like Poplar or some other "so-so" wood like you said.

Take it, what the heck....why not......

It's hard for me to really see that picture on my phone, but agree with PAW......why not, if you have the space and time, go for it.....

Hackberry on the non-IDed stuff?

The bark looks fine and narrow and evenly fissured like Norway maple, a common yard tree. And the darker rounds look like Red Elm. There are elm leaves in the picture. Or in the fuzzy picture. Norway and Red elm. I say go get it. If its really lightweight you can always leave it there. I dont know what Ailanthus looks like. Two of the rounds are showing growth rings which are not easily visible on Norway.

It's firewood and anytime you can get a small load, remember that small loads in time add up to big loads.
Yeah, but why get a big load when you can do half the work getting a small load of the good stuff and end up with the same amount of heat. ;) But I guess that a) A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and b) Variety is the spice of life. :)

I'm with Woody & PA. Big rings on the stuff to the left = light wood. But I gotta ask: Where is the rest of that Mulberry? Or did someone already scoop it & leave the crotches?
Mulberry crotches are tough if you're hand splitting.

Its woooood ! if its free get it . It will put out some type of B T U .S;)

My first thought was box elder but whatever it is I'd get it if its not too far away.
