Just noticed the stove hasn't turned on for a while.

light number 3 blinking on the panel.

burn pot full of unburned pellets.

got out the manual.

says stove shut down because the proof of fire.

1st thing manual says is to check to see if there are pellets in the hopper.

DUH. LOL! at least that was an easy fix. :cheese:

You'll learn the absolute worse thing you can do is admit that you didn't notice it was getting cold and the second worst thing is to admit to us that you didn't keep the hopper full.

All we will do is ROTFLOAO .

thanks for sharing.

is it plugged in?

lol. i'll remember this though next time i have a mini fail. :)

The funny part is that I needed the manual to tell me that.

I am an old pro, I know what the blinking lite on the stove means cause I have seen it many many many times! :cheese:

Admitting is half the battle!!! LOL.

 Its happened to us all. If it hasn't. Then you haven't been burning long enough ;-P

That explains all of those round shaped impressions on your skull. The missus noticed before you did ;-).

That's probably how I remember so well! She beat it into me! ;-)

Evidently, he doesn't fondle his pellets. Otherwise he would have known he was getting low.

I don't have or need any stinking lights on mine. The mean ole lady that shares my bed hits me upside the head if I run out of pellets.

The thing was that I looked in the hopper and saw a few handfuls of pellets in there covering the auger.

What I did not know is that the old man had just pushed them down the sides to that position.

you mean I am supposed to beat him? LOL!

The pellet stove is my baby.

Haha! Glad t hear there's nothing broken!
Even if it's your baby, blame him anyway. ;-P

"But You are Warmer and Wiser Grasshopper"

I did a complete cleaning of our stove last Spring.
Cleaned it so well that it wouldn't feed pellets!
Had dislodged part of the slide assy. in the base of the hopper.
Oh well.......
Enjoy your stove!!
16 here this morning and windy but 75 inside and enjoying a hot cup of coffee!!

Pellets?? My dealer said just plug it in and go!!! You gotta' put pellets in?????

oh, by my baby, I meant my thing. He didn't want one and just wanted to keep paying for exhorbant fuel oil prices that we couldn't afford.

I did the research, I picked the model, I read up on it, I am responsible for cleaning it. If anything goes wrong with it he turns to me. I do the most filling of the pellets and pulling the cleaning rods. He never even read the manual.

I did show him how to clean it and how to shut it off and turn it on.

To give him credit, he does bring the pellets from the workshop and stack them on the front porch for the week and helped me with the install.

Ahh, seems to me if youve got a burnpot full of UNBURNED pellets youve got something else going on besides running out of pellets. Clogged holes near the ignitor??

Looks like you need this if you don't yet have it.

It tells you how to really fix the stove when you will need to. (It didn't come with your stove).
The number 3 light is usually the sign of out of pellets, but the full burn pot can be the sign of the pot needing a good cleaning or a bad igniter.
Although, I am sure that in this case this is what happened: Your stove was trying to relight (its run by the thermostat) and just as the pot was loading with pellets, the stove detected that the hopper was out of pellets and shut down. I have seen this happen before. If it happens again, with a good amount of pellets in the hopper, really clean your burn pot area and make sure you are pulling the pull rod for it more often. If that doesn't help, its time to investigate the igniter. If that is the case, search for my thread on cheap St. Croix igniter replacement. https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/89736/#1101167

Thanks Other One! We did not have that manual and that will come in handy! lots of good info in there.

Sounds like you need to do some serious 'attitude adjustments'. :) It's his butt that is staying warm and has more $ in his wallet.

X2

If stove stopped because it ran out of pellets the ones in the pot would be burned up before the flame died out. ?

Not if it ran out of pellets just as it was going to light. I have seen it happen. If the stove was already lit, this would not happen.
