According to the WPS website my house is without power right now.

Will the pellet stove start up again when the power comes back on?

I do not have a battery back up.

Read your stove's manual.

It all depends what the stove sees when it gets power back and how your manufacturer decided to handle things.

I have not lost power yet...I do not know!
I am getting a UPS shortly. Very large with three huge batteries in it, it just needs batteries.

from memory I don't think my manual covered what happens when power is restored.

I found it online, it says nothing. This website says it's automatically relit:

http://www.woodheatsolutions.com/pelletstoves.htm

The Afton Bay features a popular bay window view of its fire. It also features a full pedestal ash drawer and a pellet hopper capacity of 65 pounds. The Afton Bay is shown at the left with an optional gold door overlay and reveals. Like all St. Croix stoves included is the state-of-the-air digital controls with smart stat. Featuring automatic lighting and relighting during a power outage. The smart stat feature allows you to use a standard wall thermostat to control the temperature. VersaGrade cleaning system allows St. Croix to run for long periods between cleanings.

Even Temp should put that information in their manuals as it depends upon what the controller in the stove does.

As anyone who looks at a lot of different stove manuals will tell you stove makers have even been known to change the controllers in their stoves over the years.

I know a St. Croix Revolution will NOT restart when power is restored after a failure, until you go hit the button to turn it on. I suspect the rest of the line is similar.

I hope that is true Tolk, but I am thinking that the button might need to be hit.

maybe I need to train the dogs to push that with their noses.

Are you using a thermostat?

Mine(which maybe different from yours) does come back on as long as the stat is calling for heat. BUT(and I mean BUT!) it only comes back on in the lowest heat setting. FYI only and not sure if it will be the case from your stove.

My Afton Bay will not restart itself, and it defaults to factory setting for the lowest heat range on a power loss.

My Quad would start (almost positive).

The Fahrenheit would if its in Fuel Mizer mode.(On/Off), if its on the stat with High/Low, I would have to push the On button.

Every stove is probably a little different. On/Off and they may, High/Low and its supposed to have a fire all the time. So if it loses that fire? I dont think it will relight?

My St Croix Prescott starts up again when power comes back on
if it was running when the power went out. I do not have a backup
power source. I have it on a thermostat if that matters.

really may quad will not start when i have a power failure, maybe its just the castile.

Never had a power loss yet?? Or that I knew of while running?

Because the power dies, it seems as if when power is restored, that the stove would want to start immediately??
I may be completely wrong about this... This is my "guess" based on how it "kinda" operates. The Santa Fe, Castile, and Classic Bay operate all pretty much the same. My stove just feeds more. Its no Mt. Vernon AE.

Same concept. So it may not.

and the answer is........

The stove does restart by itself after a power failure. It runs on the lowest heat setting. I do have it on a thermostat.

Now ya know. ;-)

Get many outages up there? Pretty much never here.

hardly ever. I think this is our 3rd one in 17 years.

one was a lightening strike to a pole down on highway D and I think someone hit a pole for the other one.

If I am home when the power goes off, I usually opt to unplug anything electronic, even those on surge protectors. When the lights come back on, then I go about plugging things back in. Unplugging is the best surge protection you can get.

I'm with save$ when we loose power we unplug the Pellet stove, and wait for power to be restored. I am always worried about the power not coming back on cleanly.
That said if we were not home the Castile starts up automatically. Depending on where it was in burn cycle it may have more pellets than usual at start up so the fire might be a little higher for a few minutes then quiets down to normal.

It will start if calling for heat , CB1200, Castile and Santa fe all use same 3 speed controller.
