I feel soooo much better now. Not sure Mrs. Blue agrees.

Well, I didn't start cutting wood until the 80s, so no. But your description is conjuring up an image of something about twenty times as heavy as a crosscut saw! !!
Or it could be that you are indeed crazy but you have a lot of company. ;lol

Or maybe 20 times heavier than today's chain saws.

It's cold in MD to been burning all day.

Withdrawal, not really. Strange how this is one of the earliest springs I have ever seen but at the same time I have never had to burn wood this late in the season to stay warm. Stove is fired up right now and it feels good. Based on the forecast will be fired for at least another week. I've had a stove going in the house an planting the field at the same time........weird.

Time to fire up the charcoal grill and the fire pit on the patio, every season has its burning opportunities.

I was sick of it by Thanksgiving, as usual. But the 30 is doing a low burn right now because it is in the mid-forties and has been raining for 26 hours straight. I don't like being cold.

We had a very lazy rainy sunday today and i have lit the stove earlier today and just loaded today. I refuse to be cold and days like these is why we have the stove and i slave in the backyard processing firewood. Love it.

I did read that thread, Chief! Great stove, reminiscent of those chiminea things. Your inside stove looks SO inviting.
Thanks. So, now you know, you are not nuts, just diseased like the rest of us ;lol

I sit in my back yard and stare at my stacks...People ask if "I think I have enough wood"....I tell them, you'll never understand....smh....

No man ever thinks he has enough wood . . . ;)

I think I'm a bit like Woody in the way that this is one of the few ways I can directly impact my comfort and standard of living in such a direct and dramatic way . . . what I mean is by not running the oil boiler and by processing wood I can turn that wood into heat and this translates into better and cheaper living for me.

My hard work directly translates into a tangible reward . . .

When I start talking "wood" to people, they tell me I get a glazed look in my eyes, like some half-crazed new grandmother going on about her first grandchild. At least you guys understand!
Funny, when I started this, the idea was to just supplement the oil boiler to save a few bucks. Now I refuse to allow the darn thing to kick in. I figured I would have a cord stacked and I would consider myself proud, now I have four cords and I'm looking for more. Already have the racks, gonna fill them over the summer.
Unfortunately, I don't have the acreage to process my own, but I am not above going after a scrounge, if me and my Pontiac Vibe can handle it.
my jeep liberty is my scrounge vehicle. Prolly picked up about 3-4 cords this year already, and more to get.
