So last fall I found an area of blowdowns 3 miles back in on county land. Iron co, WI. Pulled some out with a chain and atv, too muddy. I've been watching for it to dry up this spring, last week loggers put a road in there,so I went to forestry dept, she says" Oh, no, you can't cut there, even blow downs, without permission of the bid holder". So I was bummed, but asked and answered. Next day I'm out riding, run into a foremann for the same logger, he says " Sure go ahead. Don't cut anything standing." WHOOPDEEFRICKINDOO! This is the fourth load of hard maple, these went down with the root ball, so they have leaves and are quite green. Heavy as hell. Also a load of ash that was dead and down at least a year, no rot or punk. Rains done, gotta get splitting.
