It's too neat - must be photoshopped! Yep...that's what I'm telling myself right now and it makes me feel a bit better indeed :)

I agree with the Jenga and legos comparisons. Beautiful stacks! Seeing such nice stacks makes me want to... well... BURN MINE! ;lol Oh man, I crack me up!

Thanks AJS! I am getting way too much credit here, it is the wood we should be praising; nice straight trees with minimal knots. Oh yeah, the wood splitter helps a bit too. ;) I split the first cord of wood for this year manually but I was bringing it home quicker than I could stack so I broke down and bought a splitter. Just point and click and she cuts where you want. I will be laughing to myself next time I fire it up as I think about the comment made about using a table saw to cut the pieces.

Stacks look great and good job on getting ahead! :)

Yeah, but you "Cut" it straight. Without a straight cut, it wont look as good.

Here is the most recent stack I created. Its 4 ft tall x 36 ft wide x 3 rows at 18" and older stacks by my Shed and the house. But compared to yours, these are amateur :(

Your Avatar is Perfectly cut rounds.... Beautiful :)

You guys make us rough ass wood cutters/stackers feel terrible...hell, I think Im doing good just to get it in the yard....;)

Hey, I resemble that remark!!

Man, anybody stacks that neat definitely has issues. Should probably get some professional help.
If my stacks looked anywhere near that good, they'd never get burned - just leave 'em up for show.

Not me . . . I work with wood for the heat . . . I'm not planning on winning any beauty contests with it -- or keeping it around forever and ever. For me, it's just fuel to keep me warm.

That said . . . I do like them purty looking stacks. Uh-huh.;)

Love those stacks. They look great! I wish I would take the time and effort to make mine look like that.

Nice stax and some preemo oak and hickory. I just measured mine up last nite and I'm up to 14 cord stacked and ready to go. I thought about tarping it but I want to get 2 more cord put up in the next couple weeks.Sept .15 is the latest I plan on tarping. The count down is on!

For anyone feeling less than adequate about their woodstacks, I offer these humble pics. They should make you feel better. But hey, they work for me! ;)

thatsalotawood!!!! Nice c/s/s! I tried using fence posts for end of stack retainers on the wood I split on our hunting property and they just spread and toppled over. I thought the posts would speed up my stacking time but 3 of the 4 ends failed while I was still stacking, ended up rebuilding the ends with the criss-cross method? The soil is very shaley there so perhaps they were not buried deep enough?

Nice woodshed! I would love to build something like that but really don't have the room; the wood I have stacked for next year is very close to the property line and any kind of permanent structure build here in Md requires a 5' set-back I believe. Perhaps I could put up a long skinny roof that would cover the existing stacks?

Hah, I think the I cut the wood on my avatar just after a buddy gave me some tips on touching up the chain with a file. The saw works wonders with a sharp chain who would have thought? This is my first year burning and have c/s/s 17 cords so far since March (3.5 for this year, 3.5 for next year, 1.5 on the mountain/hill property, and gave away/sold just under 9). Just never really gave up scrounging. ;) So honostly I am a newbie here, helped my dad split back in the day but this is a new hobbie and just love it! I wish I had a property like yours to spread out on, you get 100% sun and wind on your stacks.

you go AJ..............nice wood, barn and country

Thanks! We have 40 acres with about 8 acres wooded, and we just love it. We don't have any critters, just farmland we rent out and a woodlot to play... I mean... work at firewood harvesting!
