About to fire up the new stove and it is not obvious in the manual that a break in is needed. I assume this is false.

Any help or info?

Thanks.

We have the PE Vista insert and this will be our fifth season of burning. We did start out with small fires to "season" or break in the stove. The directions specify that a high/hard burn should not be done until the stove has been broken in with lower/smaller fires. I would definitely follow the instructions because should there be any problems your warranty might not be valid or you could damage the stove. Our house is around 1,100 square feet and the Vista heats most of the house except for our bedroom, which is on the second floor. We do use an electric slant fin heater upstairs for supplementary heat. Good luck. I hope you enjoy your Vista as mush as we do.

Start out small, the first yr as you burn hotter you will smell the paint curing, it goes away after a while.
intersting that the vista manual does not have the same paragraph as their other models.

Quoted from the summit manual:
Lighting for the First Time
Curing of the Paint Finish
To achieve the best finish, the paint on your stove must be baked on.
When burning your stove for the first 2-3 times it is very important that
the room be well ventilated. Open all windows and doors. Smoke
and fumes caused by the curing process may cause discomfort to
some individuals.
