New Wood hauler, truck bed full of Wood, broken window!

Picked up my new Wood hauler and got a nice load of tops where it was logged last year. Not sure what kind of Wood. Had a piece of Wood hit the rear window and shattered it! Anyone know replacement cost for that? New Wood hauler 1993 Chevy 2500 3/4 ton.

Seriously, you probably were doing like I do and just pitching the rounds into the bed...and the bedliner sprung that piece of wood up and right into the window. I've done it before, I know from experience!!

I've broken 2 back windows out of my ford. Cost me $75 for a new window from a salvage yard
 
Back window priceless, soft Maple worthless, nearly! :) But I'd do the same!

I actually burned a lot of soft maple and don't mind burning it.

As long as I have a cat stove I don't really mind it either. I just wouldn't break my window out for it!;)
 
And you can pull a nice size dump trailer with that truck as well. Looks like my wood hauler only newer.

Looks like U got some maple there, definitely not worthless, helped keep me warm last year, got more for this year.
A steel mesh across your back window will save it, no more worries

yep thats what i thought = nice steel frame with wire mesh welded in it to prevent it from happening again = good insurance ..
 
Ouch, that looks like it hurt.
I got my last set of tires from the local junk yard. Windows, lights and tires. So the truck would pass inspection.
You can buy window guards already made. Or a sheet of plywood up against the window while you are loading.

good safty thing to invest in as its not just the loading but in emergency braking situation having some thing flying in through the window .. cheers

I pitch the pieces onto the back also and have had a few that have hit the window - window has never broke though on either of my Rangers, but that's just sheer luck. The plywood is a good idea to avoid that sort of thing - I may start doing that...
 
1) Good choice for a wood truck. I've stopped clicking on most of the "new wood hauler" threads for fear of yet another yokel bragging up his 1/2 ton, or worse, import.

2) You can often get a damaged sheet of plywood for cheap or free, cut it in half, and boom - instant headache rack.

Yep Silver maple and Swag hit it.....salvage yard for a new window 50.00 to 100.00 is about the range you should be in.

I agree Sav....I had only glanced at the one close up picture but after looking at the pile of poles I do see elm.
 
When I was about 10, we use to take our trash to the dump, I was up by the PU cab slingin stuff out, beaned my dad right in the forehead with a karo syrup bottle , no plastic bottles back then :oops: dang near knocked him out

I feel your pain . . . dropped a 4-foot log that I was side loading into my pick up the other day . . . put a couple of nice dents in it . . . a 2010 Titan (one of those dreaded 1/2 ton imports . . . hehheh . . . does the job for what I need it to . . . not a 3/4 or ton truck . . . but I don't attempt to run it like one either.)
