I've been following the threads regarding burningissues, and I've browsed through the site a bit (although I don't have the time/energy to read everything over there).

Their whole approach reminds me of political talk radio (regardless of which way the slant is). The strategy seems to be:

* "Take facts out of context to bolster your point"
* "Omit facts/studies that counter your views"
* "Quote/reference people who Quote/reference you, making everyone seem more credible"
* "Attack opposing views with misleading rhetoric, and refuse to discuss" ("Question the war? You're against the troops!", "Burn wood? You're pro-cancer")
* "Disconnect/hang up on/ban anyone who seems intelligent enough to put up a good argument"

It seems obvious to me that there's an underlying agenda over there. We would do much more for the cause by figuring out what that agenda is, and exposing it, rather than trolling their forums, and engaging in arguments with folks who have no desire nor incentive to acquiesce.

Why do I think there is an underlying agenda? I've known countless "green minded" people.

* Most if not all burn wood.
* None extol the virtues of oil/gas/coal for heat and/or electricity.
* None consider automotive pollution as secondary to wood pollution

Something just doesn't add up.

From a bit of research, both BurningIssues, and the "American Association of Fuel Cells" are both "projects of Clean Air Revival". I've done little to no digging beyond that.

I _DO_ know that a LOT of research has gone into natural gas fuel cells (it's one of several technologies in the fuel cell arena). It would be irresponsible for me to accuse the "Clean Air Revival" of being a NG industry puppet, and I don't mean to make that accusation. I have zero insight into the inner workings of this group.

I will say that the natural gas industry does share similar goals with both BurningIssues and the American Association of Fuel Cells.

To avoid a flask in the pan ban , a MSG approach is needed, Think long term write with care, we are all in this fight for cleaner air and freedom to pursue a happy warm home.

I can still remember the pre EPA problems from wood stoves that came after the oil embargo of the 1970s. I guess some people are still in the 70s over there. WE can burn wood cleaner and should be able to warn ourselves with wood heat if we want to.

Or a recent post by a CFM enthusiast and Linux boy that Microsoft is evil incarnate. But then this enthusiast goes online thru the refrigerator. Right ? Do you know how many jobs have been created over the past 20+ years by a single O.S. ? Can you spell DOS ? It is business, entrepreurship, capitalism. It is this site, your careers, your lifestyle. Whew ....

Agendas are what emotional, irrational, low esteem people--like those on burningissues.org --feel compelled to do. Don't let facts get in the way. Just say NO.

Back to real: most of the AlGore/propaganda/anti-American zealots do not use any kind of wood heat. Drive multiple full size SUV's, travel by jet overseas to righteous conferences. Las Vegas !! Ad nauseum. Let's go swimming in AlGore's pool ?
Listen, discuss, learn, in a civil intelligent manner. Accept other viewppoints. Or, you'll become like those burningissues fanatics......."Stupid is as stupid does" Don't.

Maybe I wasn't clear, or maybe I'm not following your reply.

I'm not accusing them of anything. No hidden meanings in what I wrote, don't look for any.

All I said is that the rhetoric reminded me of listening to political talk radio, and that there seemed to be more than meets the eye over there. Nothing more, nothing less. I offered up some possible tinfoil-hat fodder, but that's all it was intended to be.
