Not sure if this exists or if this this would work but here goes:

Has anyone changed / upgraded their damper actuator to not only shut at a high temp, but also to shut at a low temp - say... 140*?

Was thinking that since I don't have storage, it may buy me some time during those cold mornings when you forgot to set the alarm and are praying for a few hot coals...

Jmann I put a 12 hour crank timer on my damper works good I usually crank it to 6 hours .This allows for a few hot coals in the firebox the damper closes on time out hope this helps.

Gotta like for that timer? If not, can you forward the manufacturer and model number? I'd like to see what it looks like...

Thanks,

would be easy to do but you would have to trick it everytime you needed to get the fire going and if you loaded it with not so good wood it could shut down before it really got going. i would try the timer.
