Well it was Jamie on the phone and he went through my info like when it was purchased, what stove it was and so on. Unless they are shipping me a ceramic cat! I purchased the stove in "09" And he did repeat that on the phone. I will give them a call in the morning to see what is up!

Log farmer, Jamie won't lead you wrong. He may or may not have mentioned it but some newer steel cats are now available and they sound pretty good so far. Hopefully, that is what you are getting. The steel cats certainly light off faster than the ceramic and so long as they are continuing to improve on them, I would not worry.

As for the screen, I see no need to change it unless it has warped. We still have the same screen and we get no more ash than we did with the ceramic cat. Also, as for the fit, when they first got the steel cats, yes, they did fit a bit loose. It should not be a concern now.
