About 5 bags. Newer (10 yrs old) construction. 3000+sqft - open floor plan. Hooked to a thermostat that sets back during the day and a few degrees at night. Keeping the house at 68 with it barely running at all.

Haven't kicked on the propane beast yet (other than a test run).

We started burning October 20th just burnt at night, today we started burning 24/7 the cold has arrived
Burning box store stuff now, cheat river, chow,etc... Will start burning hamer's when temp drops below 25.

On my 2nd bag...burning now

Started burning on Sept 15. Opened the 26th bag this evening. So far the only oil used is to heat the hot water.

24/7 with a couple days of shutting it off when it got too warm

On bag 19. About a bag a day. Winter will be 2 bags a day

Built in 1870 - 2 story well insulated farm house. Use pellets exclusively. Keep the oil burner set at 50 degrees just in case.

Been burning 24/7 for a week or 2 already..though Today is the first time I've have to turn it up from Idle.
Its 39 out and

11 bags Tractor Supply labled MWP's

Eastern PA just west of Philadelphia. 3400 SF frame contemporary house built 1977 with fair insulation in walls, R60 in attic (and air sealed), decent but old casement windows that leak like mad through the handle crank (ideas welcome). Still need to do some air sealing in joist space between garage and basement on same level, which is last of the major air infiltration areas. Started burning 10/1 but very nice Oct weather for most part. We both work at home so heat on most of the time.

8 bags through Quad Mt Vernon AE freestanding stove that burns 24/7 on thermostat with settings 74 for 3.5 hrs morning, 71 during day (wife's office just off room with stove), 73 evening, then 67 overnight while sleeping. All temps are about 4-5 degrees warmer than we want rest of 1st floor due to location of stat. Room where stove is has 1/2 cathedral ceiling which is horrible for air flow to rest of house, but heat still travels out to contribute significantly, including up to 2nd floor bedrooms.

4 more bags through 20 year old Whitfield Quest insert in basement office, burning 1/2 time or less. No stat possible for that, and no ignitor so burning just a little more than needed for shoulder season. Also just getting used to this little guy (bought on CL this summer) so not able to keep it going while out of office because settings are so low during shoulder season. Contributes to upstairs heat by leaving door at top of stairs open.

So 12 bags over 39 days, and haven't had the heat pump on for one second! Will likely need it next week when temps drop to low 20's, but 10 more days left in electric billing cycle. So want to make it to that point sans heat pump!

Do you burn 24/7 or just part time? Year your house was built and square footage, how well insulated. Don't forget to give your location if not in your profile. Trying to get an idea on how much I will burn for the season. I realize there are many variables, just curious how I currently compare to others in my same climate type.

1600 square foot slab house, new windows and doors, built in 1965. insulation wall ok maybe could use more in attic, first have to take care of code violations left by previous owner.

45 bags for me. Big box pellets, only thing easily available.
I burn 24/7 Total downstairs square footage a tad under 1,500 square feet. House is a Cape cod built in 1949 with 2 X 4 walls. Outise has 1" foam panel insulation with Vinyl siding over it. No additional wall insulation. Upstairs when required is heated by fireplace insert just below staircase in dining room. Read my signature, detailed info on the amount of pellets burned last two seasons. Burned about 15 bags of Softies so far and love in it . Hope this helps:)

14 bags so far. 2400 sq ft colonial, stove on stat. Comes on and off as it pleases.

as of last night 11/8/13 I put 25 bags in my boiler. ...and not a tablespoon of oil! I also am heating my hot water with boiler too. Man I love my heat pump hot water heater (AO Smith) BUT it makes no sense to grab heat from basement ....
