you could remove the mantel and put a thimble with a tee off your liner this would give you a better setup.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you have one of these draft inducing fans and you lose power an hour after you go to sleep, with a full overnight load burning in the stove? I considered adding one to my set up, but the thought of a situation like that arising was plenty to deter me.

Having a wood stove that relies on electricity to operate safely and effectively seems to basically eliminate the purpose of having a wood stove.

You drop back to poor draft, or worse now that you have the fan blocking the draft even more while not running.

Out in the sticks here we've had significant improvements in the grid (tons of line clearing, line / pole replacement, etc.) over the last few years, and the result has been an equally significant drop in power loss / interruptions. Then this year - 3 relatively long power outages so far (the last one was 18 hours out my way, 40 +hours in nearby parts). Shortest of the 3 lasted @ 8 hours. A few freakish weather systems (haven't seen this kind of rain etc. in 20 years) - it changes everything.

Just throwing it out there, fwiw.

My Bad.

You're right, just didn't take the fan idea seriously enough obviously. I should have.

Here's the deal --

95% of the people on Forums are wonderful, civil and I appreciate their help.

But their are always these condescending, impolite jerks out there who get under my skin and I will always pay them back by responding to their crap. I'll get it working if I have to buy a new stove. I have no other choice but go into the fireplace and don't like inserts. (they're ugly).

Osburn 1100 maybe -- and yes it's a small space to heat.

25 degrees and I could get in there -- do the 45 adjustables do that? no nothing about adjustable elbows and pretty much tossed them out of mind.

Adjustable elbows are not well made, and many fall apart due to their adjustability.
You really want to go solid fixed elbows here.
30 degree is the smallest I know of. Don't forget, you will have some movement to get a little more or less angle on the straight between the elbows.
Adjustables are just throwing away more money, and will most likely come apart.

As far as the impolite jerks.... Most of the folks you are considering as such, actually know a few things about what you are asking, and when offering advise that was asked for, then being asked again because you did not get the answer you were hoping for, and went ahead and rushed in to do a half arsed job, they become frustrated and express such frustration through more stern words.
Granted some advise should be taken with a grain of salt. But when several folks give the same sage advice, and a person elects to ignore it, then waste time and money, only to come back asking for advice to fix their oops, you get what you got.
Some of the impoliteness you consider, is actually concern.
If everyone told you what you wanted to hear to make you feel okay with a poor install, you might just not have a home or stove to come home to, or wake up to.

I just read back through this thread and mj you could not be any more wrong, like I said earlier they are trying to help and you started making fun of their names.
The fact that Hog is being nice to you now says a lot.

Closing this thread, yet another has been started. Now on a replacement stove.
