Per the manufacturer's manual ... page 9 ... 7' clearance;)

no problem, any install that will work with 3 inch will certainly work just as well with a 4 inch

So would you say mike because of the extra elbow and height just do the 4". I called England's the other day and I am pretty sure I spoke with you. I just wanted to let you know you were so helpful and it's the reason I bought the IP stove. So let your boss know you sold a stove:) I ordered it from Lowes tonight.

I think I recall the conversation (tri level house or something like that) and yeah, i'd just go ahead and run it in 4 inch looking at the EVL calcs the others have done for you it makes sense, not a huge amount more for the 4 inch pipe versus the 3 in the grand scheme of things.

thanks for the compliment BTW, just another day at the office ;) glad I could help! I appreciate your choosing one of my products!

I think you will be tickled with it , I LOVE the access to the back, would have put one in myself but I have the PAH with that 3 bag hopper and its hard to give up that bag of capacity. PAH is not too hard to get at either but not quite as easy as the IP, that thing opens up in a heartbeat

So that was my next question if I do 4" and maybe only needed 3" it won't hurt anything?

No, it will only cut down in maintenance and it will burn GREAT

So I need to achieve a .2 r value for the hearth. I have 3/4 plywood how much hardi backer do I need? I will top with tile

0.200 R value (presumably before you hit wood) is roughly an inch of masonry. If going minimal and not saving any money to speak of makes you happy, a layer of 1/2 and a layer of 1/4 and the tile. Two layers of 1/2 is the same price last time I glanced at hardibacker prices, and I prefer overbuilt to wishing I had overbuilt. I might also go a little heavy on the bed for the tile.

Only had durock available when I did the woodstove (I like hardibacker a lot more, especially when I have to cut it) - taped the joints with mesh tape and mortared them with thinset, and offset joints between layers. That one is topped with bricks and tile.

Ohhh - nice link: http://chimneysweeponline.com/horvalue.htm

That seems to think one layer would get you there.

So I went with the "if it's worth building, it's worth over building" theory. I did 3/4 plywood, 2 layers of 1/2 durock next gen and then ceramic tile. That should get me to my .2 R value.

So while i what for the stove to come I have another venting question. The manual says that the vent termination needs to be 2ft above grass or combustible surface and 7ft above a public walkway. I will be venting over my deck and the termination will be about 9 or 10ft above my wood deck. I realize if how I read it is correct I am ok. But I want the real world answer is this an ok setup. I like to overkill things its just in my nature. Also I am using 4"pipe. Thanks this site has been very helpful.

Have you got a set-up for the OAK too? Don't forget a CO detector and surge protection!

that's fine you want to be high enough to get the vent out of the way during the summer , wouldn't want a "thunk-ouch- dammit" from the vent hood while carrying burgers to the grill type incident ;lol

Thanks for the reply I just wanted to double check I would be ok with the wood deck. Also no grilling disasters:)

I am going to pick up my stove tommorow at lowes. I got the 25ip. How will that be packaged ? How much help will I need to get it in the house.

It'll look like this but strapped to the pallet with a box covering. Probably should get another person to help you depending on how you are going to pick it up and eventually get it in the house.

Several pics of how mine arrived here: https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/englander-55-trp-ip-s-aka-25-ip-s.113588/page-3#post-1552445

It is not light, I did it with 4 people, Me, my Dad, and my friends Massey and Ferguson ;)

I'd say 2 people and a good hand truck would be the minimum.

ETA: I'd also suggest popping some of the doors off for the move. At a minimum whatever side would be against the hand truck, but I took them all off. It's only 4 bolts per door and it was easier having a nice square frame and not worrying about denting the doors.
