I am trying to heat 1700 sq ft. Right now I have an American Harvest 6039 and was thinking of the U.S. Stove 5500M since it says its rated for 2200 sq ft. Anyone think I will notice a difference?

As someone with a 5500m I think it all comes back to BTU's, location, and your homes air flow. I am enjoying my stove now after alot of work to get it "set-up".

What I don't understand is how the American harvester and the 5500M are only 200 btu difference but they say the harvester is only rated to 1200 sq ft but the 5500M is 2200.

That isnt much difference. With the 5500m burning chow I could only get about 30,000btu's before the pot caked up with ash. with my new pellets I can run at the full 48000btu if needed. Dont get me wrong I like the stove but its not for everone. Also to heat my 1700sq. ft. house im running around 3lbs/hr. My house is a bi-level in NEPA. Because of air flows I can only heat about 1000sq but that space is around 76*.

Maybe its just the cold temps but I can't get the harvester to bring it up to 73 in one room. Granted it is a little drafty as it is an old house but still when you block off 2 rooms that equal maybe 500 sq ft seems it should be a little warmer. I was just looking and wondering why it says that the 5500M does 1700 sq ft and the harvester only 1200. Maybe I just need to wait it out and move up to like a harman next year. From the sounds of it I may not notice a difference. I am running green supreme pellets right now, I tried ambience, curran, energex and never noticed much of difference in the BTU's being put out.

Got cha well anything else you want to know about the 5500mroads just ask.

Lots do a seach for post by me...
