Wife "Where did that split wood come from?"

Lately when ever my wife has an errand that is more than a couple of hours. I hit the stack of logs and try to cut, split, stack, and clean up before she gets back. I even use the Find My iphone app to see how close she is to returning. Started a new stack and didn't finish - caught. She saw the work and asked "where did that split wood come from?" Have a birthday coming up and she vowed not to gift me with something that would just encourage my addiction. I need to get to those other projects to get the pressure off. Now about that solar power ...

Where did that split wood come from? The split wood fairy must have been here, I had no idea, I'm in just as much disbelief as you.

That's HILARIOUS! I have to do the same thing. Whenever she goes to lunch with her sisters or bookclub or something, boom I'm out there working. I honestly think she's never put two and two together that if I'm spending too much time processing wood that she's spending the same amount of time horsing around.

I think the iSplit app must be on my phone, and I'm going to sneakily install iStack on hers.

Careful or that won't be the only wood split. Females tend to get persnickity this time of year something about mirrors -change of seasons- clothes ect.

If it's a good, clear day, my Wife encourages me to get the splitter out to "clean up the mess"....she's gettin' picky about the appearance of the yard

I'm a wife. I read here all the time. :) I've been on the pellet side of the forum for years. Just now venturing into the wood stove side. Husband and I have spent the day stacking wood (oak splits) for next year. We bought it cut, split and well on its way to being cured for next year to get us started. :) :)

But I was referring to the guys who groan about their wives complaining and not helping, etc.

Ya know .... the "other" females ;)

got one of those here:(......she likes to sit on the deck with a beer and our pup and watch....unless I have the truck out back, then it's a tailgate party while I work

I had a couple of mates over for cricket training, I have some nets next to where I stack all my wood, and one of them asks me where my split wood comes from (meaning, where do I buy it). The other (who knows I c / s / s myself) pours scorn on him and sarcastically points out all the work it takes etc etc and finishes by saying "split wood doesn't grow on trees you know!" whereby the first mate snickers and points out actually it does . . . haha LOL.

My girlfriend at first was real cool with me working on the "pile" now she's like the whole world doesn't revolve around fire wood, I agree, but I explain to her that the "pile" has more benefits than what meets the eye, its good exercise, keeps my out of trouble, keeps the heating bills down, great stress reliever, and its helps me think since I'm able to clear everything else out of my head when I get into the splitting zone. She said I'm crazy ...lol

I'm having trouble understanding why a wife or GF would be angry or jealous of wood splitting. You guys are just joking around, right?

Not even 5 minutes ago, the wife said to me, you going to split the rest of that wood stacked on the driveway today?

I have plenty of wood - wife wants other unfinished projects completed.

I really think that jobs like these generally appeal the the male of the species because this is the antithesis of multitasking. And of course, if each spouse could change even one single aspect of their mate, that would spawn hundreds of dedicated forums! ;lol Viva la difference, I guess.
