Can't believe it but lit the stove for the first time ever in June, to get rid of chill. Anyone else do the same?
I burn about 3-4 ton per year this last year 5-6 ton.Really cold/snowy year here in Michigan.Curious to the amount of pellets you folks who are still burning here in June consume in a year..
Chickenman,I have been a wood burner for the last 40 yrs.and have always had an aversion to pellet stoves because of noise and no heat during power failures. When I saw the Wiseway unit it really caught my eye physically and then when I was told it is non electric I became very interested.I am a dealer as well as a distributor for Wiseway.I have been testing them quite extensively for the last 4 months both at work and at home. The longer I use it at home the more I like it.I have the new model at home which has a viewing window in the second leg of the flue and this really shows you what is happening combustion wise as well as draft wise. The stove makes noise it's draft noise but at times it's quite loud and only lasts a few seconds and then the stove settles back to a soft rumble. The stove starts very quickly and heats instantly and it's all radiant like all my woodstoves,I love that warm feeling as does my wife and dog,it also provides a surprising amount of convective heat delivery especially when using a Eco fan.I have excellent draft and this is crucial to the stove performing well.I have had to play with my burn basket somewhat to bring the heat up but understand I am burning it in June and now July so draft is far from ideal as fall and winter approach I will have to close my basket spacing so as to reduce heat output as draft improves. The stove works very well and heats wonderfully I burn overnight without concern,I have started to burn hardwood in it and wow what a difference in performance but I do need to shake the ash down a bit more. The stove holds it's temps very well.I damaged the stove paint finish because when you start the stove it just takes off and in my excitement didn't do a slow break in low fire which is required to season the Stove Bright paint, the bottom of the stove gets very hot very fast and I have learned to hand feed the stove for 30 minutes when they are new to season the paint.Cleaning is very easy and should be done every 3 or 4 days, requires removing the firebox and opening the glass door for a quick vacuum and then a restart, takes less than 5 minutes and the stove is heating again.Hey 8ball!
What do you think of the Wiseway?
we always have our Oil furnace for power outtages....If you live in an area where pellets are very expensive or power failures are common, then yes a pellet stove is not ideal. However, given their ease of use and ability to better regulate temperature makes me prefer them highly over traditional woodstoves

A Generac 7500 watt Genny and power assist box in the basement wired into our main box gives us 10 different circuits in the house to run. Let's us run Hard wired rooms, furnace etc.
Best investment we ever made [ before the Pellet stove of course.]
In the picture that fat 30 amp plug goes into the Generator on the back porch and then into a 30 amp outlet outside which connects right back to the Assist box..
The Double breaker there runs our 24k BTU wall AC unit which we actually got to use 1st time last week as storms knocked out power for 24 hrs.
Don't have to be an Electrician to wire it.. very simple directions and also video to watch the hookup.
good to have,,, Mine is actually a transfer switch with limit of 10 Interchangeable circuits, but pretty much everything we wanted to run is within 10 circuits.I have a whole house transfer switch which turns every outlet in my house over to generator power including the one powering the pellet stove
