New member from BC.

New member here from BC. Been lurking for a while as this site is popular on google.

Anyhow, we just love looking, finding, cutting, hauling, splitting, stacking and burning wood. IDE eat the stuff if I could.

Currently have a PE super 27 in my old canadian wooden house. Yesterday I ordered a Blaze King Princess Ultra with fans. All my friends have a BK and Iam sick of the 'This & That' so bought one. I hope it turns the ashes into wine like they claim Ha Ha Ha.

The PE will be installed in my Shop to replace a cheap Englander mini stove.

Burning Western Red Larch as its the finest wood around. I don't buy I find wood so take what ever i can, Also have some old growth Fir and Ponda Pine.

Looking forward to posting here.

EDIT: Should add my stove is in the basement, 6" flue. IDE a bought a KING but it won't pass inspection choked down to 6".

Welcome Rossco from a fellow BC'er! We must be at opposite ends though, no larch here. Doug fir and Red alder are my go-to fuels, with a random mix of whatever hardwoods I can find (currently bitter cherry and an ornamental birch). Looking forward to hearing your reports on the princess!

Thanks buddy. I live in the south east corner of the province. Some of the largest Larch stands in North America. Although its so hardy and fire proof, Snags are getting harder to find. I do like Fir as well. It's just as good as latch but not as pretty in the pile.

Never had any hardwood to burn but I never really look for it. Iam after 'Red Backs'

The super 27 did an OK job of heating or subsidizing my heating needs but it loved wood and the wife is having our second child in October so I want a little longer burn time. We won't run the stove till late OCT / early NOV. Atleast I get to investigate, look at and touch a brand new stove for a while.

I too am slowly learning a little more every time I come on here.

Hotcoals: Yeah I love pine. It smells great. Doesn't take 4 year to dry and is everywhere. Thanks to our friend the Pine Beetle there's like whole stands of Snags. Real easy to get and burns great. In fact am gonna break this new stove In on a load of paper dry pine I have hidden out back. Unlike most we don't burn during the so called 'Shoulder' season. Wait till it hits -10C before I light the stove. Iam hoping this BK will give me a good hot 10-12hr burn with Larch / Fir.

Finally the weather has broke, Rain Rain Rain. Might put that forest fire out over the mountains near Canal Flats.

Hopefully we can get the fire pit 'Fired' up this week. Been a fire ban here for a while.

Yeah its been pretty smokey here to, its nice to see a bit of rain on the forest. Its a cool 13 c here today. Im starting to see the fall colours coming in a bit, and with these temperatures and rain today it sure feels like fall! I look forward to hearing about your switch from the 27 to the blaze king. I was speaking with a client the other day who went from a blaze king to a super 27 and wished she had stayed with the blaze king for the longer burns. For me Im happy with the 27 and find it meets my needs.

16C here at the moment. Nice to get a break from the 25-30C+ its been pumping out latley. The fall seems just around the corner but the summer is still hanging on.

The Super 27 is a great unit. I wouldn't be replacing it If the wife wasn't expecting again. She would normally feed it regular, sit down in the basement and read in front of the stove (lovely fire through the glass) it should serve me well in the shop. The current shop stove is garbage.

I will create a thread once I get it fired up.
