Its getting hot enough. 300 first burn 400 the second and 450 this one. I figure its the heat outside and short flue pipe. Just cant get a good draft. I got it hot enough to hit break in temps.

Sounds good. Time to bring that puppy indoors and hook it up.

Yeah with a short stack ya have to keep the door cracked breaking'em in outside. Not enough chimney draft to pull air the long way through the primary and secondary intakes.

Yeah now i have to take my flue down and move it to the new stove location. The old stove is in a back room and was only intended for supplement heat. The Madison is going to be in the center of the house for primary heat.

Well heres a pic of the installed stove. Half inch concrete board with 1" airspace between it and the wall. Gona go thru the roof with triple wall this weekend.

It's looking real good.

Congratulations. Pretty soon it will have fire in it's belly. Keep us posted.

I'm curious about why the wall shield behind the unit? What is the clearance to the wall requirement and how much is there in your installation?

The wall shield was for the insurance company. They go by some antiquated specs. For old smoke dragons. They would let me go 12" clearance with the wall protection. I told em englander say 7.5" with no protection. But they didnt care.

That is completely wrong. I would complain to the company that their auditor needs education or replacing or they do as an insurance company. Are you going to tile the cement board?

Yeah. It and build a matching hearth. But thatll be next summers project. I complained but to no avail. But until last winter, when i discovered this site, i was still burning like my grand parents. And cutting wood in the summer to burn in the winter. Burning smoldering fires with little heat.

Well, there is no harm for having extra protection and it will look great tiled. Still, forcing a homeowner to push a stove with good clearances further into the room rubs me wrong.
