Hello;

I am new to this forum and have some questions if you please. I just picked this stove up used

The serial number on this stove is 074841, the tag says manufacture in 1980, coal or wood.

1. I this a good unit and still safe to use? Isee it is in good shape with no cracks of any kind.
2. I red about liners, but on this burner there doesn't appear to be any. So is this okay to run as is?

3. I am going to do the stack myself, so is that 3 layer stainless toe way to go.?

Thanks for the help!.!

No particular liners needed. You can find some information and an owners manual at:
https://www.hearth.com/talk/wiki/vermont-castings-older-stove-models/

Any "HT" chimney of 8" ID should do the trick. Most is 2 wall insulated, but some is 3.

The unit should be fine....as long as you install and use it safely. Read the manual and read some of the material here about it. We have a special sub forum for older VC models - search around in there. There is lots of information.
