Hello Guy's
I have an old MT Vernon free standing stove that needs the door gasket replaced. The window is held in place by two metal tabs not the rod design. So my question is after I remove the window from the frame and install the new gasket do the tabs go in front or behind the new tadpole gasket? The old gasket is in such bad shape I can't tell how it was originally. Also the air wash is currently located at the top of the window but most of the material I have read states it should be located at the bottom. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

The tadpole wraps around the edge of the glass, with the tab on the outside. I squeezed the tabs only enough that they do not contact the stove when the door is closed.

And yes, the older Quads had a "top airwash"... the only downside to it is that ash tends to collect on the bottom section of gasket and drops out onto the tray when you open the door.
