I thought I would make a politically correct title due to the amount of love my last thread received.

In-laws old and new stove, the old one they are giving away to their cousin. Lasted 8-10 years and I think all it needs it a new board. They like the new stove so far just not the way it has to sit on the hearth. Oh well

Yea the way the fireplace is with the hearth there is a gap so the stove doesnt sit flat obviously.

I agree they could fill in those area's with some stone, Right now its sitting on 2x4's so keep it level

I did it again as a joke because I know how many people LOVED the last thread. This one I just wanted to show the pics between the two stoves.

It must be an older home as they don't make mantles like that any more... To make it look as if it was part of the original, you could run a couple of layers of brick out to extend the hearth.

My mother in law is going to fix it somehow she just isnt sure how. The installer did the wood under it, should be fine considering he has installed thousands of stoves for the stove place they got it from. He did a great job installing my XXV. Their house was built in 1978 so its not that old just odd the way the hearth is raised a couple inches in the firebox.

It was a good stove for them for many years. Several things broke but they fixed the issues over the years but yea I am sure they are fine stoves just not pretty looking

If the installer didnt think it was a good idea/safe to put the stone on pieces of wood I am sure he wouldnt have done it. Again he has installed thousands of stoves
