Not the last but having had experience with coal and after looking at what was available we wanted auto ignition, no coal dust, no coal bin, no coal ash, auto feed. And we actually don't consider the maintenance high. Clean once a month. Dump ash twice a month.

Fair enough. Just fyi. Bagged coal comes pre washed and is vertually dust free. Pellets are "much" dustier. And bagged coal is same as bagged pellets. No bin needed. Coal stoves have come into the 21st century. You should look at a video of a Harman Magnum stoker burning. Absolutely beautiful!

The Magnum and DVC500 are awesome units, had them both burning in my store at one time or another. Burning coal vs pellets, coal is much dirtier. You have to empty the ashpan on a stoker about every three days if you are burning a bag a day. Rice coal has to be dry before you put it in the hopper or it will cause the stove to fail. Venting is a lot different on a coal unit. I would pick pellets.

From my experience in heating with coal when I lived in eastern Ohio, it'a a better, more even heat and I agree, it never goes out until spring.... It never goes out because it's a PITA to relight.;lol

attempting to live in a world with the costs constantly going up is difficult on $19 per hour on one income. the crusade to raise minimum wage is going to make matter worse for anyone making more then minimum wage which is almost every adult, every adult i know. most adults look for better jobs if they make that little anyways.

This one went to hell in a hand basket two pages back.
