Fair enough. Just fyi. Bagged coal comes pre washed and is vertually dust free. Pellets are "much" dustier. And bagged coal is same as bagged pellets. No bin needed. Coal stoves have come into the 21st century. You should look at a video of a Harman Magnum stoker burning. Absolutely beautiful!

The Magnum and DVC500 are awesome units, had them both burning in my store at one time or another. Burning coal vs pellets, coal is much dirtier. You have to empty the ashpan on a stoker about every three days if you are burning a bag a day. Rice coal has to be dry before you put it in the hopper or it will cause the stove to fail. Venting is a lot different on a coal unit. I would pick pellets.

From my experience in heating with coal when I lived in eastern Ohio, it'a a better, more even heat and I agree, it never goes out until spring.... It never goes out because it's a PITA to relight.
